What Is Mercury Retrograde?

Mercury Retrograde is a term that refers to the apparent backwards motion of the planet Mercury in the sky. This phenomenon occurs three or four times each year. It lasts for approximately three weeks each time. During these three-week periods, Mercury is said to travel at a much slower speed in the sky than its usual speed, creating the effect of a backwards motion. Although this retrograde motion does not actually occur, it is believed to have an impact on our lives in various ways. It is said that during these periods, communication, technology and travel can be chaotic. It often results in a heightened level of stress and frustration. Furthermore, it is important to take care during this period as financial, legal and health related issues can become much more stressful. To minimize the effects of these periods, it is wise to carefully plan ahead and double check any information that is presented. Mercury Retrograde can be navigated with the appropriate amount of patience and practicality.
