What Are a Rainbows?
Rainbows are a beautiful and captivating natural phenomenon that is created when light is refracted by water droplets in the atmosphere. It is a multicolored arch of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet that appears in the sky. This occurs often after a rainstorm. Rainbows can be seen in the sky, but can also be found in waterfalls, mist and even in the spray of a garden hose. The colors of the rainbow are created when the sun’s light is refracted or bent by the water droplets in the atmosphere. As the light passes through the droplets, the colors separate and the rainbow is formed. Rainbows are always located in the opposite direction of the sun and the size and shape of the rainbow depend on the size of the water droplets and the angle of the sun’s light. Rainbows can be seen all around the world and they are a reminder of the beauty and wonder of nature.
