What is a Nun?
A nun is a woman who has devoted herself to a religious life. Nuns embrace a life of solemn vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. Nuns usually take sacred vows of poverty, chastity and obedience and usually remain cloistered, living in a religious community and often found in a monastery. The lifestyle of a nun is typically synonymous with that of a monk – focused and committed to the teachings of their church or faith. Despite not being bound by the same physical and legal ties as members of a normal society, nuns are powerful leaders in their own societies, they inspire charity and compassion among the public. Nuns are often seen as powerful spiritual guides and teachers and are highly respected figures within their communities.
