What Is Nonsense?

Nonsense: Some people refer to nonsense as a form of communication, either spoken or written. It can also be expressed through another symbolic system, which is nothing but meaningless talk. In everyday language, nonsense is often identified with absurdity and sometimes the preposterous. It is often used by people when they are having fun just talking about nothing. Many writers have used nonsense in their works: poets, novelists, and songwriters, many of whom have produced entire works made out of it for various reasons that span the gamut from sheer comic diversion and satire to making a point about language or logic. Nonsense is differentiated from sense, as the field of philosophy of language and philosophy of science seeks to find an orderly and systematic method of sorting sense from nonsense. An interesting area that distinguishes between signal and noise is cryptography.
