What Is Burnout?
Burnout is a state of physical, emotional and mental exhaustion caused by constant stress. It is usually caused by problems at work. It is common at home, taking care of elderly parents or your spouse or significant other could be the source also. By definition, burnout is a form of chronic stress that appears irreversible. It is hard to see the end when you are in the middle of the stress of Burnout. Stress may be harmless if it is short-term or related to a specific goal. When stress feels endless and is accompanied by feelings of emptiness, apathy and hopelessness, it can be a sign of burnout. To stop burnout, it’s important to look for the end result such as if my job does not get better, will have to find another job or I am going to get a promotion out of this. If my spouse or significant other does not get their stuff together, it is the end of the relationship. Relationships are a two way street. If you have one of those one-way relationship, it is time to back off and see if the other party wants to work it out. You cannot force someone to love you, so time to move on to another. Determination can often counteract negative effects at work. Other motivating factors include autonomy and a good, difficult challenge. Love My Burnout!
