What is a Parrot?
A parrot is a bird native to tropical and subtropical regions throughout the world. There are many varieties of parrots with the different species encompassing various sizes and colors. The smallest is the buff-faced pygmy parrot and the largest is the hyacinth macaw. Parrots have brightly colored feathers which can be red, yellow, blue or other shades of color and many are characterized by their long, curved beaks. Parrots possess the ability to imitate human speech or sounds made by other animals; this behavior is known as vocal learning. They are also highly social birds, and can be trained to do tricks or become companions and some have even been known to develop close relationships with their owners. Parrots are omnivores and their diet can include a combination of fruit, grains, nuts, vegetables, and sometimes insects. They have also evolved to become quite adaptable, some species even living in cold climates and it has been speculated that these birds evolved from waterfowl. Love your parrot.
