What is Humidity in Astrology?
Humidity is an often overlooked yet essential part of the environment. It is the measure of the amount of water vapor in the air, typically expressed as a percentage. Humidity has a direct effect on weather, air quality and our comfort levels depending on the season. When referring to outdoor humidity, a higher reading is associated with a hotter environment; hot air holds more moisture than cold air. Although comfort levels indoors can differ from outside readings, the same principle holds true; warm air can hold more moisture, resulting in higher humidity levels than cooler air. As such, indoor appliances such as dryers or microwaves, generate heat and contribute to raising indoor humidity levels. Excessive humidity levels, both indoors and outdoors, can have adverse effects on human and animal health. High humidity and temperatures can create an uncomfortable environment, leading to increased sweat and reduced body temperature regulation. It can also create an environment where mold and other pollutants or allergens linger in the environment in the humid air. On the other hand, too low a humidity level can be equally problematic. Low humidity can lead to dry skin, nosebleeds and respiratory illnesses such as Asthma. It can also cause havoc to structural parts of buildings – like woodwork – that are prone to warping or cracking in such conditions.
